BIOL 410 - Molecular Biology

4 Credit(s)
This course is intended to provide the fundamental knowledge of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology needed by students planning a career in biomedical science research. In this course, the structure of DNA, RNA and protein macromolecules including their physical and chemical properties coupled with their roles in cellular metabolism would be examined. The synthesis of these molecules (DNA replication, transcription and translation) along with their application in genetic engineering and regulation of gene expression would be covered in detail. This course is designed as an upper level undergraduate and lower level graduate course, therefore a strong background in Microbiology and Organic Chemistry is recommended. 3 hours lecture and 3 hours lab per week

Prerequisite(s): BIOL 308 .
