BIOL 303 - Neuroscience: Research & Analysis

The course content includes the study of neuron structure, neuronal electrophysiology and signaling, neurochemistry and synaptic transmission, anatomy and physiology of the brain, somatic and special senses, motor control by the nervous system, study of neurobiological basis of behavior such as emotions, eating and drinking, etc.  The neurobiological and neurochemical basis of common neurological and psychiatric diseases such as Alzhemier's Parkinson's. schizophrenia, depression, etc. is also discussed.  Instructor and student-led discussion of neuroscience research and review articles will be done in the "Discussion" session an important of the course is the " Literature research report" module wherein students will be assigned to research topic pertaining to neurological and psychiatric conditions.  Students will conduct literature research on the topic, prepare a research report and present the report in class.

 

 

 
3 hours of lecture and 1 hour of discussion session per week
