The Master of Education in Contemporary Educational Leadership program requires at least 36-credit hours of study for professionals who seek certification as K-12 public school Assistant Principals and/or Instructional Leaders. This program requires the completion of the 18-credit hours of course work required for the Public School Administrator I Certificate and 21-credit hours of study that include writing a thesis (Thesis I & Thesis II); 2 seminar courses (Seminar I & Seminar II); and a course which engages the participants in building effective school, family and community partnerships.
Admission Requirements
All applicants must:
- possess a bachelor’s degree;
- be a certified teacher (3 years of experience);
- complete the Coppin State University School of Graduate Studies application process including: official transcripts from all previously attended institutions; 3 recommendation forms (one of which must include the applicant’s immediate supervisor);
- possess an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better;
- submit current resume;
- submit a writing sample; and
- submit a statement of educational philosophy.
