The Master of Science in Applied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (AMBB) offers an excellent framework for mastering advanced biochemistry and moleuclar biology concepts. Specifically, the program focuses on examining the structure and function of macromolcules and their roles in complex biological systems. It aims to develop interdisciplinary and integrative skills, preparing professionals to tackle challenges in applied biochemsitry and molcuelar biology. Students will gain hands-on experimental experience and ample research opportunities, fostering the critical thinking and analytical skills needed for dissertation work and successful careers post-graduation.
Specific Program Objectives
- Students will acquire hands on laboratory experiences in molecular and computation biology used in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology in investigating and resolving normal and abnormal structures and functions of biological molecules and learn to design and conduct research projects.
- Understand that several experimental methods can be used to achieve a specific goal. Understand limitations for each research method and explore how each method is used to answer a wide range of biological questions.
- Learn how to articulate and critique scientific papers and writings and acquire necessary skills in oral and poster presentation.
- Acquire sound knowledge in theoretical aspect of molecular biology and its applications.
- Learn to write research reports, manuscripts and Master’s thesis.
To graduate, a student must complete a minimum of 35 credits. The student must meet with the departmental advisor who will evaluate the student’s progress towards completion of the required program course. The departmental advisor should also evaluate the student’s progression toward degree completion.
