Advanced principles and approaches to electronic health record (EHR) technology. Examine required documentation and record structures. Theoretical and pragmatic issues related to EHR technology, such as design and development, planning, standards and clinical terminologies, model EHR systems, evaluation of EHR software systems, and outcomes research using the EHR. In addition, such requirements of accrediting and licensing agencies of EHR technology as well as the strategic initiatives of the Office of the National Center for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT) discussed.
