The Major in Social Sciences provides a comprehensive analytical perspective for understanding human social interaction and social dynamics. This is a very solid foundation for students entering a variety of graduate and professional fields (Law, Urban Planning, Social Work, Public Health, Human Services Administration, Public Policy, etc.). Graduates entering the workforce with the Bachelors degree in Social Science are prepared for a variety of administrative responsibilities in business and government. They may participate in managerial training programs in public or private agencies or serve as research assistants for scientific or marketing programs. Social Sciences majors are employed in a wide range of Human Services in such areas such as education, social services, youth services, counseling, community development and labor relations. Students also may prepare for a variety of opportunities in international and diplomatic services.

Social Science Major Requirements
Students must complete 120 credit hours to receive the Bachelor’s degree. This includes 40 credits of general education requirements and 30 credit hours in Social Science. Students will also have to complete additional courses to meet the university’s degree requirement of 120 credit hours. These elective courses may include a minor or part of a second major. The major requires:
Social Science (12 Credits)
Political Science (6 Credits)
Social Science Elective (3 Credits)
Advisor approved course from any 300 or 400 level course.
(Anthropology, Political Science, Social work, or Sociology)
