A Bachelor of Science in Data Science degree program aims to produce graduates who can combine business expertise, quantitative reasoning, and computer software skills to extract meaningful insights from data. These skills prepare students to interpret business data in the 21st century, to compete in the marketplace with combined business and data science skills, and to apply these insights to answer business questions and solve business problems. Through course study and hands-on projects, students will master data science skills, including structured and unstructured data, statistical measurement, machine learning and deep learning, on-premise and cloud computing, and data visualization.  The new program will prepare students for career opportunities such as data analyst, business analyst, business intelligence analyst, data scientist, operations analyst, or other critical business analyst positions, and to pursue graduate studies in data science related fields.

Students majoring in Data Science should complete 120 credit hours by taking 40 credit hours from the General Education Requirements (GER) in consultation with their academic advisors, 42 credit hours in the College of Business core courses, 30 credit hours in the Data Science program, 7 credit hours in general electives and 1 credit hour in CSU requirements.
