SPED 404 - Directed Teaching of Learners with Mild and Moderate Disabilities 12 Credit(s) Candidates will work with P-12 Mentor Teachers and with University Supervisors to continue to develop skills to integrate theory with practice and to reflect on that practice for continued professional improvement. A minimum of 80 days or 16 weeks (40 days and eight weeks at each site) of onsite experiences is required at this phase of field experiences. During each eight weeks internship experience, the candidate is actively involved in all aspects of the P-12 learning environment. The teacher candidate is required to prepare detailed lesson plans utilizing current models of teaching that meet the needs of the students in the assigned school and classroom developed in collaboration with the mentor teacher and the University Supervisor. The teacher candidate is also expected to attend professional conferences; keep a reflective journal that describes and analyzes significant teaching/learning events; notes routines and procedures that create an efficient, productive classroom; and conduct an Intervention Study and write a report.
